Malaysia Marathon 2026

Stepping up to the starting line at 2:00 AM on August 30 outside KL Pavilion, surrounded by the hum of nervous energy and the quiet glow of pre-dawn Kuala Lumpur, takes a special kind of grit. Running on minimal rest and empty sleep reserves means fighting your own mind before your legs even register the miles.

The route through the heart of KL—stretching onto the elevated stretches of the AKLEH and SUKE highways—is notoriously relentless. While highway miles sound fast on paper, the long, drawn-out incline ramps and elevated passes turn the course into a deceptive leg-burner. The total lack of shade in the early hours doesn't hide the elevation; every flyover and highway ramp demands extra effort from fatigued muscles.

Holding a steady 8:36 min/km pace under those conditions isn't just a physical output—it's tactical survival. When sleep deprivation sets in, pushing too hard early on those inclined roads invites an early wall. Grinding it out step-by-step, managing your heart rate, and keeping your feet moving through the hilly sections shows real mental toughness.

Crossing the finish line at KLCC made every tough kilometer worth it. It wasn't about setting a speed record; it was about conquering the course, overcoming fatigue, and seeing it through to the end.  Till the next run, bye! 🏃

Kuantan Half Marathon @ 20 years of pace.

               Sun, 5th July 2026, MBK...Kuantan

July 2026 isn't just another month on the calendar—it marks 20 full years on the running path, honing the discipline, pacing, and grit it takes to keep pushing forward. The morning air in Kuantan was filled with excitement long before sunrise as hundreds of runners gathered at Padang MBK. The vibrant energy of the crowd, the pre-race warm-up music, and the sea of event tees set the stage for an unforgettable morning. Standing at the start line,...SELAMBA AJA.. the focus was clear:  steady..LEPAK..fun 10 km run..Cruising through the Streets of Kuantan.

As the flag-off horn sounded,  Maintaining an average pace of 6:38 min/km across a 10 km route requires discipline—starting controlled, finding smooth stride efficiency through the mid-race kilometers, and managing heat and hydration at the water stations.
Whether pushing past key landmarks or drawing energy from fellow runners along the course, keeping a consistent rhythm paid off kilometer after kilometer. Stopped Now and Then to snap Pics..

As the MBK finish arch came into sight, every remaining bit of energy went into that final burst. Crossing the finish line mat at 1:06:20 locked in a strong, not-bad result. Wearing that 10KM Finisher Medal around your neck represents all the early morning training sessions, perseverance, and mental toughness it took to get here.
Maintaining a sub-6:40/km average pace for a full 10 km in tropical conditions shows strong cardiovascular endurance and great race management for an old Young guy!!!

Exploring Kuantan Art Street -Amidst the vibrant murals and heritage walls, old emotions resurfaced. Kuantan wasn't just a race venue; it was where life's early chapters unfolded 38 years ago at the Polytechnic. Standing in the heart of town brought back subtle, vivid memories of youth, innocence, and the lasting mark of first love. No Journey is complete without good food, rich coffee, Chill Beer, deep laughs. Sitting down together at a  local cafe, the conversation flowed effortlessly—just as it always has for 38 years since college days. From reminiscing about old student times to sharing current life updates, sitting back with a great cup of coffee, beers  alongside frenz who have stood the test of time added more colors to trip.

Till the next starting line and the next warm coffee—signing off for now. Adios, Kuantan 👋😊
